Beginning with her earliest memories, Nita
Henderson wanted to be an artist. Without formal training, she began
drawing pencil portraits in 1971. She began taking private drawing and
painting lessons in 1975. She later attended college art classes, as well as
taking workshops led by well known artists.
After
all these years..... still painting.....
still
drawing..... still the passion!
Nita is a native of Texas. Her paintings of
landscapes and still-lifes, her portraits of people and animals have been classified as
"Regional
Realism." She works in oil, pencil, and pen & ink.
Nita's work has won numerous awards including
Best of Show, People's Choice, and the Grumbacher Award (awarded for best
use of color). Her work has been the
subject of many one-artist shows. She has been commissioned to create landscapes,
portraits, murals, book covers, stationery, and book illustrations .
